Al Davis was once quoted as saying “Just win, baby!” This is quickly becoming the mantra for the Denver Broncos. In yet another heart stopping come from behind win, they defeated the Chicago Bears.
The win will be hyped as another inspirational performance by Tim Tebow but the final result had more to do with the bad luck of Marion Barber. He must have seen a black cat, broke a mirror, and walked under a ladder on his way to the stadium. On the possible game clinching supposed last drive for the Bears, he accidently ran out of bounds stopping the clock. It was a horrible turn of events for the Bears which ended in disaster.
Barber’s unlucky rabbit’s foot not only propelled him to lean left and go out of bounds, it also ended with a fumble allowing Tebow to carry the Broncos into field goal range.
The first three quarters of this game were hard to watch for any fan of offensive fire power. No one could move the ball! Once the Bears went up by ten in the fourth, it appeared that Tebow wouldn’t be able to do it again.
Then the unthinkable happened. Call it divine intervention if you want, but Tim Tebow flourishes in crunch time. Somewhere along the way, he listened when a coach said play increases in the fourth quarter.
In the final quarter, Tebow threw for more than 190 yards and a TD! He made the right decision at the right time giving his team the chance to win. In a first year starter, you really can’t ask for more than that. Just ask Big Ben how well it worked out in his first season as a starter…
Inside the Bronco locker room the game ball had to go to Denver kicker Matt Prater. He may have rode Tebow into field goal range but his foot earned the W! Forcing OT, he made a long 59 yarder look easy and to win the game he split the up rights with a 51 yard kick.
This magical ride is certainly fun to watch, but how much time is remaining? Only time will tell, but in the mean time enjoy Tebowmania and the first place Broncos.
