2011 was a huge year in sports. UCONN proved that one star can get you an NCAA title, The Mavs proved that a Decision won’t always end with a ring, and not so shocking the MLB MVP popped for a banned substance.
Below are three plays that I put together in what I call my biggest and baddest three plays of the year.
Number three comes from the world of MMA. Anderson Silva is known as the baddest man on the planet. His impressive streak of 15 wins is rarely matched and not matches among the brass of the UFC. In this one he was taking on Brazilian striker Vitor Belfort who was supposed to be a game opponent that would be able to stand with The Spider. As you see, he had no answer for Silva who has never been defeated under the UFC banner.
My boy John showed me this the other day. I am not big on college football and it slipped by. The play is an impressive catch that reminds me of the NFL Fantasy Football commercials from a few years ago. In this one Marshall’s Aaron Dobson either has incredible hands or way too much stick’um on his hands. Either way it is an incredible catch!
My top play from the past year comes from the NFL. The Cincinnati Bengals haven’t had a ton of luck lately but they are having a great year including a current playoff run. No one is picking them to go all the way, but if they can make plays like this then they may be able to pull off an upset or two. In this on Jerome Simpson puts on his rocket pack and literally flies over the defender. He not only scored, he flipped, and landed!
Those are my top three. If you have any other ideas throw them in the comments for everyone to see.
