Ever wondered what they really say on the field? Well, I don’t think this is what they say, but its hilarious! The guys who created this vid did a great job. Speaking of on the field, is Darrelle Revis worth a 13th overall pick?
Darrelle Revis is considered to be the top corner in the NFL. A true shutdown corner, he locks down his side of the field, and all but eliminates his receiver. One of the only bright spots on a train wreck of a team, it appears that he is taking his talents to Tampa Bay.
This may be a blockbuster deal that sends the 13th overall pick in the upcoming NFL draft to NY, but is it an impending bust?
Let’s look at some history to help us evaluate this trade…
The past five 13th picks:
2012 – Michael Floyd (Arizona)
In his rookie campaign he tallied 2 TDs, 45 receptions on 86 targets, and 562 yards. Considered the third best WR on the team, Floyd is expected to have a breakout season in 2013. His 2 TD receptions were just as many as Donald Driver, Nate Burleson, and Desean Jackson.
2011 – Nick Fairley (Detroit)
An apparent injury risk, he has not played 16 games a season in either of his two in the league. Everyone knows that the Lions have had terrible draft results over the past ten years. Fairley finished last season 321st in tackles. His numbers are down due to his injuries, but he was arguably one of the league’s top DTs prior to the injury. Fairley is expected to be a Pro Bowl DT this year (if he can avoid the injury bug).
2010 – Brandon Graham (Philly)
Last season Graham had 30 tackles throughout a disastrous Eagles season. New Qb, new coach, and new defensive scheme Graham is suddenly in no man’s land. A pass rushing 4-3 defensive end, he now may be forced to make the move to linebacker. Everyone in Eagle Country knows Graham can play but f he can not handle the transition to LB then he may find himself searching for another team.
2009 – Knowshon Moreno (Denver)
Over the past two years Moreno has played in a combined 15 games. In his rookie year he rushed for 947 yards but has struggled to stay healthy and be the breakout runner the Broncos hoped for when they drafted him. Last season he only rushed for 525 yards in his 8 games played. Now in a Peyton Manning pass first offense and in a crowded backfield Moreno will need a great season to avoid being a draft bust.
2008 – Jonathan Stewart (Carolina)
As a 1,000 yard rusher he was a beast in his second year. Last season he spent most of his time on the pine, but has the chance to rebound in a Cam Newton fueled offense. In a Cam-first offense, Stewart is one injury away from opportunity-land and a career boost.
The one thing that jumps out across those picks are the injuries. Revis has an obvious knee injury but the days of a bum knee killing a career appear to be over. A big time comeback from RGIII would all but put those issues to bed.
If Revis is healthy, then he is one of the leagues best corners. He is a huge pickup by Tampa Bay! On the cover this trade is a risky one, but the risk could reap the reward. Tampa would not be able to draft an equivalent DB (if he is healthy) and his addition changes their D. As we have seen from the above data, the 13th overall pick hasn’t resulted in a player who is the best at his position over the past 5 years. Revis could be just that.
On the other side of the trade, the Jets gaining the pick means they will have the 9th and 13th picks. While they may not be able to get a playmaking superstar that will change their team, they can get two instant impact players and potential starters that will make them better.
This trade is good for everyone and one the Jets should have taken earlier.
Have you ever tried to shoot fish in a barrel? Neither have I, but I bet it would bee pretty easy. Tonight the Duke Blue Devils host Spartan Fish as the Spartans of UNCG head to the unfriendly confines of Cameron Indoor Stadium. It is no secret that the Spartans are a bad team. Their 2-9 record speaks for itself.
The Duke Blue Devils are having a typical season so far. They not only helped Coach K break 903, they keep winning. Currently at 9-1, they have the ACC’s best record. Their lone loss on the season was at the hands of The Ohio State University in their worst game of the year to date.
Tonight’s game is a perfectly scheduled welcome back from finals game. It is time to put the pencils down and pick up the ball! This is the first game in eight days; while rust could be a factor against a team of this skill set they shouldn’t have a problem at all.
UNCG would be hard pressed to find a tougher venue to play this top ten team. The Devils have won an impressive 40 straight at home and are on the brink of setting their all time longest home winning streak! Defeating UNCG will tie the mark. Furthermore, they have the nation’ longest home non-conference winning streak at 90 games, and haven’t been defeated by a non-conference foe at home in eleven years. In addition to the home streak, Coach K has never been defeated by these Spartans with a record of 9-0.
On the season, Duke has been led by athletic guard Seth Curry. He leads the team in playing time and was the clear cut favorite to be the go to guy throughout the season. As the year progresses Austin Rivers is starting to steal some of that title. Rivers has led the team in scoring averaging 17.4 ppg in his last seven games. It appears that he is really starting to grow in this offense and he just might be the player Duke faithful expected. One can only wonder what a back court of Kyrie Irving and Austin Rivers would look like right now…
The front court or Plum-Land has been full of the brothers grim all season. Their progression is still a work in progress but there is hope that they will continue to grow. On the season they have pulled down a combines 149 rebounds and scored 190 points. This isn’t a huge stat in terms of overall production but it is 24% of all Duke scoring on the season.
Duke’s wild card seems to by Ryan Kelly. His hight and ability to expand the court against other big men allows the Plumlees to work the middle. His ability to shoot also creates opportunities for others as teams are forced to extend their defense and challenge Kelly.
Prediction: UNCG has a better shot at seeing Bigfoot on the team bus than beating Duke at home. Duke by 30! Rivers will lead all scorers with around 20, Mason will lead all players in dunks, and Dawkins will lead everyone with deep treys.
The Green Bay Packers are one of the most storied NFL teams. From Lombardi to Favre this is one of the best organizations around.
Aaron Rodgers may be the best QB in the league but he didn’t play like it. The four sacks suffered made them look normal and very beatable. They were defeated by a very motivated and hungry Chiefs team. The undefeated teams take it to the chin each weekend and this week the KC Chiefs landed the overhand right.
I was told we need more Dallas Cowboys material not the site. While they aren’t in the basement with the NHL, they did get a win this week. Tony Romo left his putter at home and was able to throw for 249 yards and 3 touchdowns in the route of the Buccs. In the most important game of the season, the Boys stopped a two game skid and are now in control of their division. Your welcome Rodney.
The Evil Empire played Tim Tebow and the Broncos in what was the weeks most hyped game. All of us at TKC picked the Pats to winand that is exactly what happened. Tim Tebow looked good early but in the end the Pats passing game was too much. Tom Brady is still great and the Pats are not a team anyone wants to play in the postseason. Tebow’s boys will be just fine. They two very winnable games remaining and are set to win the division. Don’t believe in Tebow? That is fine, but you can’t argue with his results. 7-2 as a starter with the chance to go 9-2. Something Kyle Orton (a prototypical pocket passer) couldn’t do. Tim Tebow is not Mike Vick, Vince Young, Steve Young, or Randal Cunningham… He is Tim Tebow and as he gets better so do the Broncos.
Coach Manning got his first win from the neck as the Indianapolis Colts finally got a win. Peyton may be throwing the ball on the sidelines, but he won’t suit up this season. The Andrew Luck competition is all but over and the Colts look to be the winners. Having Luck and Peyton next season puts them in a Green bay type of learning situation. If Luck can keep his head on straight he could be the next great QB in Indy. Yes, Indy is still the worst team in the league.
