The most popular athlete in the country is Tim Tebow. Like him or not, he is suddenly the most popular player in the NFL. Think I’m wrong? I challenge you to go to a sports website and not see his name! He is everywhere right now!
Last night while surfing the net I came across the picture. It is absolutely hilarious and true!
Think about it. Hardly anyone gets the criticism Lebron does for his end of game passes, misses, and turnovers. He gets crushed for his two NBA finals losses and the Miami Heat’s unbeatable hype train is far less than it was last year.
After last season was over, no one blamed D-Wade or Bosh (does anyone else think he looks like a thing from Avatar?) All fingers pointed straight to LBJ. In other words, James plays great for all but crunch time! Is it safe to say he will never be MJ?
Tebow struggles for the first three and a half quarters of the game. Bronco time hits and its game time! Sportscasters have been breaking it down all week and they all say it’s due to defenses backing off. This allows the curls, outs, and short routes to work and work well. That being said Tebow is making the intelligent decision and making the play.
No one has ever called LBJ Mr. Crunch time. He is far from Big Shot Bob! He also has as many World Championship rings as Grant Hill, Charles Barkley, and me.
This leads me to the question at hand. If you were starting a team, would you prefer to start it with Tim Tebow or LBJ? I know I know…Different sport but you get the question.
The rest of the boys at TKC may not agree but I am going with Tebow.
The reason is this. Pro sports are a business and while LBJ will carry the NBA on his shoulders post-Kobe, I can’t go against him. He has won on every level of football! I can build a team around Tim. I don’t have to worry about what his mom is going to do, don’t have to worry about his Nike contract, and don’t have to worry about him being a cry baby and challenging my authority!
In a later post I am going to discuss how I would build a team around Tebow, but in the mean time enjoy Tebowmania. I will certainly on board if he can get them the win over New England this weekend.
